A Not So Immaculate Conception by Crystal Estell

Lacey Winters is a single, career-minded woman. But when she finds herself unexpectedly pregnant and completely unaware of who the father is, her entire world is flipped upside down. Not only is her personal life upended, but having just landed a huge business contract with the Sanctity of Marriage Coalition, even her career is in jeopardy. With the help of her friend Doby, and by coercing her coworker Zak to pretend to be her husband, she may just be able to keep things held together long enough to remain on her career path and handle the challenges of her unexpected pregnancy.

The plot is predictable, and the characters and situations are a bit outrageous. However, let’s be honest: You’re not reading a romantic comedy for the suspenseful plot twists and insights into the human soul. No, all you’re looking for with chick-lit is to have a good time and an enjoyable read, and that is what A Not So Immaculate Conception does exceptionally well. It has just the right amount of outrageous scenes and humorous dialogue to keep you entertained throughout. And the extent of the misunderstandings and tensions between Zak and Lacey for the duration of her pregnancy are well-written, building to a satisfying end to the story.

If you’re looking for something fun to do tonight, turn off the television, grab a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and curl up in bed with A Not So Immaculate Conception. Crystal Estell has written a romantic comedy that is sure to provide you with hours of laugh-out-loud entertainment!
