History can be thrilling. It gives us perspective on the choices we make today. But it can also be bleak. In this fictional story, William Cone explores a dark segment of modern history and adds dramatic literary flair. The story begins in Germany in the spring of 1944. Hitler’s team has just worked out a functional atomic bomb. A major attack is planned and many players enter the scene with the hope of preventing a colossal catastrophe. The grand conclusion collides with known history with a dizzying array of heroes sung and unsung.
This story is masterfully told with plenty of accurate history. The names and places in 1940’s Europe will transport readers to a patriotic era. The clandestine missions and double crossing agents are exciting and authentic. Cole truly creates a vivid picture of some of history’s most notorious figure. Each time I stepped away from the book, I found my thoughts drifting back. I wonder how many people that lived through WWII wish that things had gone the way they do in this book?
In Dead Ringer, history meets fiction and the results are epic! William Cole’s work is a real treat for history aficionados and well-read citizens everywhere.
