A relaxing getaway into the wintery Scottish countryside.
The holiday season is underway at Dunhaven Castle and for Cate Kensie, a newly minted Countess, this means she’ll have to put her time-travel adventures on hold until the festivities wind down. And when Cate isn’t working on research for her book, she’s helping her friend from back home to get acquainted with castle life. If that weren’t enough, Cate’s been having intense recurring nightmares that are taking a toll on her health. All this activity doesn’t leave much time to look into a grand jewelry theft that happened on her estate nearly one hundred years ago.
With the ever loyal Jack Reid by her side, Cate takes advantage of a secret ability to travel to the past. There, the couple pose as a kind of attorney and investigator, and quickly find themselves in the middle of the scandal. Solving the crime becomes personal for Cate since all signs point to a relative as the perpetrator.
Holiday Heist at Dunhaven Castle is my favorite of the Cate Kensie mysteries. Steele is able to take advantage of previous character development and really expand the role of some of the more interesting minor characters. The narrative increases in intensity whenever Jack and Cate travel to the past, and a lovely surprise at the conclusion will leave you thirsting for more!
