Clive Fleury’s Kill Code centers around Hogan Duran a former cop and all around good guy struggling to make ends meet. The setting is a dystopian world that is really just a slightly futuristic Los Angeles. The economy gap has widened, the climate has changed, politicians and big businesses are lying…Maybe it isn’t dystopian after all! The down on his luck main character is trying to earn a position in an elite organization that isn’t all it seems to be. Hogan has to endure a series of grueling tests to fight his way for a chance at the good life. Along the way he discovers a few things about himself and the world he lives in.
Kill Code is well paced with plenty of plot twists and double crosses. Characters are portrayed in a realistic and relatable way. The story is a fun, fast-paced read and even hints at romance (if you’re into that sort of thing). The cover art is ominous and really sets the tone for a thrilling read. This book is a major win for Clive Fleury! You can tell that the author has passion for many of the social issues pertaining to our day. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
