Saturnius Mons by Jeremy L. Jones

Brimming with futuristic action.

At a time in history when Martians aren’t aliens, Viekko Spade arrives at Titan to protect the people there from the Corporation. With his wide brimmed hat and secret stash of addictive drugs, Viekko’s image doesn’t scream warrior from the Martian steppes. But he will do anything to survive, and it will take a lot to survive the challenges on Titan. With his team someplace between cordial and hostile with one another, the four of them will have to put aside their differences in order to make it off the moon alive.

The backstory of the fall of mankind is revealed in little snippets at the beginning of each chapter, bringing the reader slowly up to speed. This imaginative story takes place on a beautifully described blue and orange moon, and while the characters aren’t terribly complex it is easy to grasp their motivations. Viekko is a rough and tumble guy who doesn’t shy away from violence. Althea is a caring doctor with a past that haunts her.

Saturnius Mons is brimming with futuristic action. Although set 1000 years in the future, Jeremy Jones proves that sometimes humans are just stubborn enough to forget mistakes of the past.
