Tales From an Odd Mind by Nom D. Plume

Tales from an Odd Mind may be small of words but is big in complexity and depth.

Enigmatic author Nom D. Plume has bestowed upon readers a bizarre amalgamation of miscellaneous parts and pieces belonging to a vast array of diverse tales. There are beginnings, middles, and dramatic ends. The thread that really ties all the short stories together is the compelling voice of the author. It takes a rare talent to grab a reader’s attention from page one. In this case, the attention is grabbed anew over and over and over again. Several dynamic black and white photos with stunningly beautiful textures add a relevant visual component to this creative collection. The overall vibe of the book is other-worldly, leaning toward the macabre with lots of ambiguity and creativity.

Tales From an Odd Mind is a terrific example of how to build suspense and intrigue with very few words. In Box of J.O.Y. we meet a group of rough-and-tumble guys that find a box containing a child wearing dog tags. The author includes the following tantalizing snippets. The men are assassins. The child comes from Project J.O.Y. but has no name. The Dr. of the group speaks several languages. But since it’s only a first chapter, who they work for, what the project is, and why he speaks many languages will forever remain a mystery. The poem The Night Belongs to Us takes readers on a journey around the world, helping us to see that despite our differences, we possess many more commonalities. Tales From an Odd Mind by Nom D. Plume may be small of words but is big in complexity and depth.
