The earth has had more than a thousand years to heal from the arrogance and selfishness that brought about the end of the old world. Humanity is still divided but has evolved, with some possessing supernatural gifts. Not everyone agrees on the source or veracity of these gifts, but when a telekinetic prophet of a man makes his way in front of the king of Tinaria with a warning, at least some take heed. However, this is no ordinary warning. The renowned man, Michael, exhorts the people to prepare for the Demon Plague. Uneasy alliances and difficult choices need to be made if any hope to survive the greatest threat that mankind has ever seen.
The Angels of Resistance is a classic good versus evil tale with some transformative twists. Bloodlust takes on new meaning as Michael leads the people on a perilous road against an ancient evil. Varied and interesting characters shape the story, not the least of which is the famed Maxim who offers so much more than his legacy suggests. Between the vividly horrific descriptions and the plentiful battle sequences, the story reads like a futuristic war fiction novel as much as a dystopian fantasy. If that’s not enough, there are poisonings, teleporting, kidnappings, magical feats, vampires, shipwrecks, deceits, and murders coloring nearly every page. And this fantasy novel doesn’t shy away from blending old with new in the selection of weaponry, language, and tradition. Daringly artistic and with the solid thread of horror running through it, The Angels of Resistance is as involved as it is dark.
