Travels of Quinn by Sasscer Hill

Quinn, an Irish American Traveler, has her whole future laid out for her. Following in the family business, she is expected to swindle and con, and to submit to an arranged marriage. Although she loves her Da, the life of a Traveler is not what Quinn wants for herself. When her life is completely upended, Quinn finds herself forced to work alongside a group of ex-cons on a horse farm. Ever the avid student, she learns a lot about the graceful animals and there truly finds her passion. Here, the real mystery begins! The owner of the farm is murdered and Quinn is forced on the run. She will have to be careful about who she trusts in order to solve the mystery.

As Travels of Quinn begins, it feels like the heritage of the Travelers is the focus of the book, rather than the background. The descriptions of the unique ‘gypsy’ lifestyle, while vividly described, feel heavy at times and cast the travelers in a negative light. But Sasscer Hill truly shines at building a well thought out plot filled with clever deceptions, questionable motives, and just a touch of goodness. At its core, Travels of Quinn is a story about a complex con and the lengths people will go to achieve their goals.
