A Bloodline’s Echo is a beautiful novel that is exceptionally well rounded.
This delightful fantasy takes off when Corinth (Cori) discovers that she has an ability to create fire. Wanting to keep this mysterious power a secret, Cori is distraught when an enigmatic stranger admits to seeing the fire show. This young man, Rylo Finnegan, persuades Cori to allow him to accompany her on a journey to find her father. Although he is moody, Rylo is a more experienced traveler that proves to be an asset to the naïve Cori. Even as he makes sacrifices to protect her, Rylo harbors secrets that he wishes to keep from Cori. But secrets have a way of being found out at inopportune moments. Their budding relationship is tested as new acquaintances urge long hidden family skeletons out of the closet. All the while, Cori discovers that a whole world of Awakened people has been thriving without her knowledge. She must come to terms with her own powers and her position among the Avadi, and ultimately, within her own family.
A Bloodline’s Echo is a beautiful novel that is exceptionally well rounded. It is by far the best fantasy book I’ve read this year. High praise for M.R. Pilot for this superb debut novel!
