Makes Alexander Hamilton’s dynamic story approachable for all ages.
Detailing and expounding upon the critically acclaimed musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda, A Kids’ Guide to Hamilton the Musical provides a simplified yet thorough explanation of the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton. The book is organized into 46 chapters, one for each song in the wildly popular original musical. In addition to describing the events associated with the content of the songs, this comprehensive reference book is replete with definitions, footnotes, questions for personal reflection, and notes on the style and feeling of the songs. Additionally, a fair number of hand-drawn illustrations are scattered throughout the pages.
Upon reading A Kids’ Guide to Hamilton the Musical, it is immediately evident that much time and research went into the preparation and writing of this book. While the intended audience is children, I’m certain that a number of adults will also find this information to be educational and entertaining, myself included! Perhaps my favorite aspect of this book is that rather than simply explaining the musical, historical accuracy is shared wherever artistic license was employed in the musical. Kids that enjoy the music of Hamilton, or ones that may simply have heard about the musical and wonder what it is about, will certainly enjoy A Kids’ Guide to Hamilton the Musical.
