An immensely entertaining thrill ride that refuses to hit the brakes.
Special Forces Sergeant John Bishop is a true American hero. But for a hero, a lot of people seem to want him dead. He returns home from Afghanistan hoping to leave behind the horrors of combat and settle into a calmer routine, and hopefully even get married and have some kids. His extended family, guided by the fearsome hand of notorious crime boss Gonzalo Valdez, gathers in anticipation of the return of their beloved soldier. The action begins before John even makes it to his welcome home party. Finding himself at the forefront of a failed suicide bombing in a crowded park, John unwittingly pulls the pin on a deadly grenade of deception, blackmail, and bloody conflict. John doesn’t hesitate to fight for what is right, but the enemies prove to be formidable in this page-turning thriller.
Exquisite in detail and abounding in action, Bishop’s War is an immensely entertaining thrill ride that refuses to hit the brakes. Rafael Amadeus Hines is an exceptional talent with the rare ability to make readers empathize with the character on the page, no matter how revolting. I could almost appreciate the view of the loathsome terrorist in his sacred duty and practically relate to the extreme actions of the vicious cartel leader. If you enjoy military fiction and the unique camaraderie enjoyed by soldiers and their war stories, Bishop’s War is a patriotic feast. With venerable but flawed characters and a globe-spanning plot, this high-stakes novel is truly unforgettable!
