A witty contemporary fiction novel that features a quirky main character navigating the unsteady waters of change.
Nora Novak loves animals, good hummus, and her dependable routine. After spending a third of her life in the same research lab in Cleveland, Nora faces an abrupt change in her career. This shift comes on the heels of a break-up that proves more devastating to her sports-loving dad than to Nora. It is no wonder she feels like her life is spiraling out of control. At the behest of her good-intentioned mother and long-suffering roommates, Nora hesitantly embraces the #FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) mentality. With an intrepid spirit and a measure of self-deprecation, Nora resolves to put herself out there both in her career and in love.
Cuttle is a witty contemporary fiction novel that features a quirky main character navigating the unsteady waters of change. As a lead researcher on cuttlefish, Nora is better able to relate to sea life than to humans and her comparisons between the two groups are hilariously astute. The book is brimming with heart as we watch Nora come to grips with the chaos her life has devolved into. Although Nora pings on the Autism spectrum, her neurotic moments will resonate with readers on many levels. The story is imbued with humor and insight. For example, “There is no good time for something like a breakup or a Browns loss.” The result is a wonderfully crafted tale that is a must read for anybody that burns with a quiet passion and has a penchant for organization.
