Malcolm Aldred is having a bad day. Frustrated after having been fired from his job, he makes a rash decision that lands him in a bit of hot water. It is the 2070s and rampant cyber-crime has led to an unorthodox solution to overcrowded prisons. The Cyber Criminal Enforcement Agency drops offenders off to faraway times and places, often hundreds of years in the past, with no choice but to make a new home and life for themselves. That is, if they can survive the elements. For Malcolm’s punishment, he takes up life as a pioneer and even finds love when a fellow convict ends up in his time. But surviving in 1868 is far from easy. Especially when a jilted ex with an abusive side threatens their peace and help is hard to come by.
Finding Home is the second book in a captivating series that has elements of science fiction seen through the lens of history. From the plains of Oklahoma to a very futuristic London, the story spans both time and space. Although I didn’t read the first book, the author distills events succinctly in the prologue so as to get right into the story. The premise of the plot is innovative and just bizarre enough to merit plausibility. Malcolm and Hannah are the stars, but there are so many contrasting players that the plot never gets dull. And you’ll love the conflicted Christine as she does what she can to help all sorts of people. Finding Home is truly an out-of-the-ordinary journey through time kissed with timeless romance.
