Full Circle: Covert Invasion by Alfred Taylor

A war is afoot and it isn’t happening between only the Americans, the French, the British, and the Spanish. Posthuman Mark Aaron and his capable android wife Jane may be the only hope for the human race. They trudge through the endless mud, dung, and mire of Fort Bennett and around the bustling streets of London in an effort to preserve the future of the human race to save them from an aggressive alien invasion plot. They face scandals and obstacles at every turn, including trouble with the law and challenges to their ethics. But their fierce determination to retain history as it originally existed, all without revealing their ultra-human identities, might push them to their limits.

Full Circle: Covert Invasion is the third book in an action-driven sci-fi series. From the first chapter, Taylor drops readers into the middle of a bloody and impassioned conflict, and if you’ve already enjoyed the first two books in the series, you’ll have a good foundation for the action, the characters, and their teasingly intriguing backstories. Fortunately, for those of us new to the series there is a succinct synopsis that gives a rough outline of the plot from the earlier installments. Although Mark and Jane are privy to 500 years of technological advancement, this gritty novel is no shiny Hollywood version of life in the 1800s. There is an authentic air to the story from the slow pace of life to the often narrow view of women of the time. One fun element throughout the novel is the abundant humor spawned from the casual yet precise dialogue of the non-human characters as they try to blend in with their human counterparts. A clever intersection of known entities and futuristic possibilities, Covert Invasion is a wild time-travel adventure that smoothly blends history with imagination.
