Invest in Yourself by Peri Scott

Financial freedom… it’s what everyone is striving for, yet it seems to remain elusive for so many. Invest in Yourself is a financial guide that provides strategies for investing your money and growing your wealth. The financial theory revolves around, as the title suggests, investing your money for yourself as opposed to solely relying on 401K’s, Social Security and other investments made in your behalf. Emphasis is placed on investments in blue-chip stocks with dividends, and for those who find those terms to be foreign, everything in this book is explained well enough for the beginner investor. While credit often comes with the bad reputation of high interest rates, ridiculous fees and encouraging unwise spending habits, Peri Scott also devotes a section of this book to using credit cards and lines of credit to your advantage.

While the author attempts, “to make this book stand on its own,” it makes frequent reference to its literary predecessor, Be Your Own Bank (BYOB). Additionally, a few of the introductory comments regarding the author’s shock at people’s financial ignorance may be a bit off-putting. That said, it is overwhelmingly clear that Peri Scott has a great deal of knowledge regarding, and an infectious enthusiasm for, investment strategy and financial security.

Investing in Yourself provides a refreshingly different view of investing. For anyone interested in ensuring their financial future, the options for growing money that Peri Scott shares are definitely worth examining.
