Solar Warden by Peter Fuller

Military fiction meets sci-fi in this exciting, futuristic novel.

Colonel Steve “Scarecrow” Richardson is military through and through. He has a love of freedom and a disdain for bureaucracy. So when a basic mission goes awry and he has to abandon his shiny new high-tech fighter jet, Richardson figures it’s the CIA’s fault and decides to face his imminent death peacefully. Instead of waking up on the other side, Richardson emerges from a three week long medically-induced sleep to find himself aboard a spacecraft in orbit above the earth. The ship’s mandate? Keeping space a friendly place and defending earth from vicious alien opponents. Richardson has seen a lot of action in the skies in his days, but none from above them. With some convincing, he eventually accepts the invitation to enroll the super-secretive ‘Program’ and join the Solar Warden.

Military fiction meets sci-fi in this exciting, futuristic novel. For those well-versed in military parlance, Solar Warden is like taking a trip to your childhood home only to find it has been modernized and updated so as to be just barely recognizable. The research is spot-on, segueing flawlessly into the believable space-force aspects of this riveting novel. The characters, including an optimistic and ambitious CO and a soft-hearted captain, are well-defined, enhancing the compelling plot. The action scenes are abundant and richly described. With plenty of out-of-this-world surprises, Peter Fuller has penned what is easily one of the best intergalactic fiction books of 2020 so far!
