Spider’s Truth by Christa Yelich-Koth

Spider’s Truth by Christa Yelich-Koth is the first in a (hopefully long!) series of crime novels. The story revolves around detective Sean Trann of the Boston PD. The detective is young, attractive, and the best in his field. After a sting of gruesome murders, all happening with exactly 24 hours of notice, and all uniquely cruel and depraved, Detective Trann is hired to help stop a ruthless serial killer known as the Spider. The Spider killer resurfaces after a brief hiatus only to return with a renewed fervor. And this time it’s personal. Will Sean be able to uncover the mysterious identity of Spider before his fellow officers become targets?

With a haunting cover and a chilling look into the mind of a female psychopath, Spider’s Truth is an exciting, creepy, gory, and ridiculously compelling read. The novel moves at breakneck speed, navigating deftly through plot shifts and gentle character development. The chapters are usually quite short, lending to the intrigue. Shaun Trann enters the story with plenty of baggage for his young 28 years. This back history plays nicely into the narrative as it moves forward. The camaraderie between the police officers of the Boston PD feels realistic and makes the reader feel like they are a part of the team. The book is well written and easy to read. Spider’s Truth is perfect for anyone looking for a fast-paced thriller. High praise for Christa Yelich-Koth!
