The perfect counting book for your little learners.
If you’ve ever enjoyed a family vacation at the beach, then Ten Little Sandpipers is the perfect counting book for your little learners. The colorful book features a fluffy family of sandpipers nestled in the sand near the breaking waves. One by one, more young birds are introduced until ten adorable creatures are featured on the page. Besides the birds, children can also find and count happy little crabs, playful dolphins, seashells, and some starfish. The final pages include a few fun facts about sandpipers that are as subtly educational and are sure to delight readers.
There is nothing revolutionary in this counting book made for pre and early readers, but what Kim Ann has written is heartfelt, approachable, sincere, and absolutely one of my favorite counting books for young ones. The artwork is brilliant, taking a familiar landscape and adding a splash of adventure. And the scene could be any beachfront location, making the book personal for kids in almost any location. Even better, if your children haven’t seen the beach, they’ll definitely want to as they get a vibrant preview of the nature they’re bound to discover. The pipers are so cute and endearing, especially the sleepy looking bird with his tiny leg sticking out as he plops down in the sand. Evocative of happy summer memories and bright sunny days, Ten Little Sandpipers is sure to bring a smile to the face and a warmth to the soul of anybody who embarks on the journey to count a group of friendly gray and white sandpipers.
