In this fantasy novel, a motley group of ‘Fortunate Adventurers’ seeks keys to a tomb. The keys are hidden all over the Empire, and the unlikely band of misfits run into a diverse cast of adversaries as they search them out. There is plenty of magic, sword-fighting, thievery, and even comedy in the book. The Seekers of Fortune comes complete with a map in the front and a language guide in the back to help immerse the reader in the land of Aelorad. Clawson Smith even promises “a separate literary work detailing the various runes and complete language of the Elderfolk.” Each of the protagonists come with their own unique back-stories and interesting personalities.
If you like in-depth fantasy tales with interesting fictional worlds then this book is for you. The story is complex and incredibly well thought out, and the prose is wordy and rich, fully bringing the fantasy land to life. However, the text sporadically features distracting grammatical errors. This nearly led the book to receive 3 stars, but the redeeming story line and dynamic characters helped it to sustain a 4 star rating. If a few typographical errors in a story don’t bother you too much, then you should give The Seekers Of Fortune a chance. You’ll love this epic adventure!
