Johnny Sparks has always had his head in the clouds, but his life is quite average. He has great friends and does well enough in school, but for Johnny, a common life has never been quite enough. Then, in a split-second, his ordinary life is tossed out the window. Johnny and his friends become something more than human. Endowed with special abilities, he finally feels like he has a purpose. But with superhuman powers come superhuman responsibilities. Things turn serious and the friends set off on a journey beyond the known universe to find a legendary warrior. With an unimaginably powerful enemy pitted against them, Johnny and his friends will need all the help they can get if they hope to save themselves and all of humanity.
The Shadowverse by J.C. Gallo is like a high-voltage comic book on steroids! The plot is complex with an impressive backstory that adds a great deal of depth. It is so much fun to take the journey with Johnny as his childhood dreams come true in ways that surprise even him. The text, particularly the dialogue, struggles with unwieldiness at times, especially in the early chapters. However, the story itself is so engrossing that readers will be captivated and will thoroughly enjoy the imaginative storytelling. Major kudos to J.C. Gallo for producing an exciting and vivid novel with such wide appeal.
