Politics and religion dance with fantasy and adventure in The Synchronized Six. Elmer Wynn makes liberal use of the familiar astrological signs, adding familiarity in an otherwise fantastical setting that takes time to fully appreciate. A vast, dynamic cast spanning soldiers, royalty, and an outrageous pirate with questionable seafaring skills fill the pages with action and intrigue. Especially enjoyable are the exchanges between Prince Olivier and a con-artist named Cadence. Cadence has a sharp wit paired with quick hands. Her rough life superimposed over the charmed life of a royal son makes for some amusing situations. The Synchronized Six is a fresh an imaginative fantasy novel with clever world-building and lots of surprises.
