Broken is a high-voltage thriller with all the right twists. The characters are well fleshed out and achingly authentic. There are many themes addressed in the novel including addiction, sex-trafficking, abuse, fluid sexuality and discrimination. These ideas are dealt with in a realistic way making for an honest literary experience. Current day alternates with collegiate experiences throughout, keeping the story developing swiftly. A charming romance crops up in the latter part of the book, but the criminal mystery is the star of the book. Readers will appreciate the clean cut resolution to the kidnapping but will crave more from the characters. Have no fear… a sequel is promised! Laura L.
