Joe Bayham is a typical Midwestern kid in a typical Midwestern family. His story begins on peaceful camping trip with his sister and parents. Shortly after their return home, news breaks of the Oppenheimer String, an asteroid heading near earth. Humanity is left scrambling with a few on the side of an extremist group waiting for judgement day. His family can’t avoid the chaos and panic as humanity copes with an impending disaster.
Lineage The Long Way Home is a fresh take on a heavily written genre. The possible destruction-of-the-human-race story is gripping from start to finish. The character point-of-view shifts with each chapter making it nearly impossible to set the book down. It alternates between the Bayham family and Patrick, an employee of the mega corporation hoping to step in as mankind’s savior. Although the chapters are divided into sometimes uneven and clunky lengths, it doesn’t diminish the excitement of the book. The author is just descriptive enough to really give a sense about the people and locations without being too wordy. Phoenix Hays has written an exciting story that leaves you breathless. And don’t put the book down until you’ve read it all…It has an extremely satisfying ending.
