Stopping evil is not an easy task, even if you are a gifted empath reborn in the past. Sabina Hines sets off on a mission to find the Primordial Zeto Crystal and reset balance in the universe. Although she once failed, Sabina finds herself chasing leads in Jerusalem with no plans to fail again… she was literally born for this! The second part of the trilogy picks up with a shaken Sabina finding comfort in the arms of Alexander O’Neill. Life is good for Alex and Sabina until a new enemy arises and threatens their domestic bliss. The ultimate showdown between Sabina and her nemesis Rangda caps off this action packed story.
Who doesn’t love a futuristic sci-fi dotted with speculative glimpses into how our lives may one day look? According to Martin Lundqvist we will enjoy self-driving cars and have easy access to many forms of crypto currency. Had I read about these technologies twenty years ago I would’ve been overawed, but now, in the twenty first century, I was left wanting more. Sabina is a complex protagonist navigating her duty and her carnal desires. The dialogue feels robotic and unrealistic for many characters, although I suspect this may have been an intentional choice for Sabina.
The story behind Sabina Saves the Future is a worthwhile contribution. The trilogy is absorbing and exciting, seamlessly blending fantasy with our contemporary societal norms.
